They're Getting a Letter PDF Print E-mail

When I get angry with a company or even the occasional professional athlete, I often joke with Liz about how "they're getting a letter!"  The reality is that I seldom actually send a letter but now we can add GE to the list.  We bought a new GE "over the range" microwave back in 2008 after the one that came with the house crapped out.  Installing an over the range microwave is a pain in the ass so I was hopeful that we'd put the GE model in and that would be it for some time.  Well a few weeks ago the microwave started to shit the bed.  Little by little the control pad where you do everything from set the clock to time your popcorn crapped out.  I did some research and found that other people who bought the same model GE microwave around the same time we did were having the same problem.  The solution?  Buy a $150 replacement part when the microwave only cost $200.

So, because we need a microwave to warm up the kid's milk and cook our lunches on most days, we bought and installed another microwave today.  We went with LG for the brand which was cheap enough (we're selling the house) and will probably last longer than the GE.  Regardless, GE is getting a letter!

This past weekend was Mother's Day and it was a good by all accounts.  We went to a wedding in Brewster, NY for a close friend of ours and it was pretty nice.  Liz and I had a blast dancing with the kids etc.  Another mutual friend of ours was there, Bobby O'Connor who used to bar tend at the place where Liz and I shared our first kiss.   Bobby was a great bar tender and he now owns 4 different bars in the area.  It was great to see him and if you're ever in the Danbury, CT area check out O'Connor's Public House.  You won't be disappointed.

In other news, I finished my last class tonight and have officially obtained my Bachelors Degree in Business.  It's been a long haul and I'm not quite sure that the reality of it all has set in for me.  In my last class I found this quote in the text book.  Pretty good stuff...

We, this people, on a small and lonely planet
Traveling through casual space
Past aloof stars, across the way of indifferent suns
To a destination where all signs tell us
It is possible and imperative that we learn
A brave and startling truth.
