So I did my first 3.1 mile run today which is pathetic by most standards but an accomplishment for me nonetheless.  I haven't run that distance in 10 years so it felt good.  I've been going for 2.5 miles the last few weeks and allowed myself to hang there for too long.  Anyway it was good progress.  We're doing the Hebron 5k next month so I need to get my shit together.

I think I finally found a good playlist that keeps me going.  Some songs seem like a good idea when you're staring at iTunes but they just don't do the trick when you're wheezing and about to stroke out.  Normally I would charge for this type of genius but since you're one of the first 1000 people to read this blog I'll give it to you for free:

  1. Where the Streets Have No Name - U2
  2. Jimmy James - Beastie Boys
  3. Let Me Go - Cake
  4. Shattered (Turn the car around) - OAR
  5. Tical - Method Man
  6. I Got a Feeling - Black Eyed Peas
  7. Answer the Phone - Sugar Ray

It's an eclectic mix that builds up nicely.  It's only 30 minutes which is deliberate.  It helps me mentally when I know that I have to make it x number of songs to complete a 30 minute set of whatever.  I don't really care for the Black Eyed Peas or their legion of douche bag fans but the song is pretty upbeat.

Tonight was taco night and taco night is the best night.  We used Boca crumblers for the meat and I must say it was pretty damn good.  Almost no difference from ground turkey or beef.  The key to taco night of course is the sauce.  Not salsa or picante, taco f-ing sauce.  And don't bring that Ortega nonsense in to my kitchen because I wouldn't feed that nonsense to my dogs.  It's Old El Paso or nothing.
